Band Notes 4–29–2024
Greetings… here’s the news…
The following are the events for the rest of this school year and beyond:
Uniform Return — April 30, 5p at the Dungeon
All uniform parts must be returned to the dungeon at this time. All colorguard uniforms, and colorguard uniforms & equipment from seniors, to be returned at this time as well.
Failure to return your uniform at this time will result in a charge on PowerSchool. Seniors will not be issued caps and gowns until all charges or returns are completed.
Drum Major Tryouts — May 8 at 2p
Anyone interested in auditioning for drum major should be available at 2 PM on May 8 at the BHS Band Room.
Drumline Spring Training Begins May 8
Spring training for Drumline will begin on Wednesday, May 8 — From 6:00p to 8:30p At the BHS Band Room. There will be no practice on May 15, Due to the play. Seventh and eighth graders are invited, and students should bring a friend! Practices will conclude on June 5.
Colorguard Spring Training begins May 15
Side Field by the tennis courts from 5:30 to 8:30. All new members are welcome at this time and students are encouraged to bring a friend. A full summer schedule will be released soon.
Spring concert – May 21
The spring concert will be held in the BHS auditorium on May 21 at 7 PM. Report time for students is 6 PM, Indoor Drumline report time is 5 PM.
Performing ensembles will include the choirs, the orchestra, the indoor Drumline, and the wind ensemble and concert band.
Doors open for spectators at 6:30 PM and admission is five dollars. There will be a link sent home to purchase your tickets prior to the event.
This is a mandatory performance for all students that attend BHS. And — all SHS students are asked to perform with the indoor Drumline. Those SHS students performing with the indoor Drumline are also invited to perform with the concert band and wind ensemble. Please email me if you need copies of the music.
The concert and ensemble will be performing “Integrity's First Stand”, “Harry Potter Medley”, “Mahler Finale Symphony number 2” (World Premiere), and “Tchaikovsky Second Symphony, finale”.
Concert dress is required. Black pants and or skirts and white tops. Dress shoes and socks are also required. Gentlemen are also required to wear a tie. Ties should be springtime colors! Indoor Drumline Students may wear their Indoor Drumline uniforms.
Band Elections May 22
2 PM at the band room. Some offices are elected, and some are appointed. Students who wish to become an officer must be in attendance. All seniors will vote as proxy for the incoming eighth graders. Student officers will have a short meeting following the elections.
Memorial Day Parade May 27
All students from the marching band are required to perform at the memorial day parade on Monday, May 27. Students will meet at the St. James church parking lot at 11 AM. Large instruments will be transported to the parade by the truck. Parade steps off at noon, and students will be dismissed from the parking lot at the Adzima funeral home by 1 P.
Students who do not attend may forfeit their Band Award.
Dress for the parade is a white polo shirt, and khaki shorts. Students may wear sneakers and sunglasses. We will be performing Seven Nation Army.

Band Awards — TBA
Band awards will be held in the cafeteria at 5 PM. The date will be announced shortly. It will most likely be the first week of June. Students will receive their varsity letter, yearly stars, and seniors will receive their photo plaque.
First practice for the fall 2024 season — TBA
We will have a practice after the school year lets out at the band room from 9 AM to noon. All students who are in town should plan on attending.
Basic Marching Practices Begin July 10
Basic marching practices will begin at the Bennell parking lot near the tennis courts from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Students who are in town should plan on attending. Students will be excused for vacations!
Band Camp — Tentative Aug 19–22
Be held at the high school from August 19 through August 22. There will be a family picnic on the evening of the 22nd. Camp runs from 7 AM to 4 PM each day.

Los caballeros también deben llevar corbata. ¡Las corbatas deben ser de colores primaverales! Los estudiantes de Indoor Drumline pueden usar sus uniformes de Indoor Drumline.
Elecciones de banda 22 de mayo
2 PM en la sala de la banda. Algunos cargos son elegidos y otros designados. Los estudiantes que deseen convertirse en oficiales deben estar presentes. Todos los estudiantes del último año votarán como representantes de los estudiantes entrantes de octavo grado. Los dirigentes estudiantiles tendrán una breve reunión después de las elecciones.
Desfile del Día de los Caídos 27 de mayo
Todos los estudiantes de la banda de música deben presentarse en el desfile del día conmemorativo el lunes 27 de mayo. Los estudiantes se reunirán en el estacionamiento de la iglesia St. James a las 11 a.m. Los instrumentos de gran tamaño serán transportados al desfile en camión. El desfile comienza al mediodía y los estudiantes saldrán del estacionamiento de la funeraria Adzima a la 1 p.m.
Los estudiantes que no asistan pueden perder su premio de banda.
La vestimenta para el desfile es una camisa polo blanca y pantalones cortos de color caqui. Los estudiantes pueden usar zapatillas y gafas de sol. Estaremos presentando el Ejército de las Siete Naciones.

Premios de la banda — TBA
Los premios de banda se llevarán a cabo en la cafetería a las 5 p.m. La fecha se anunciará en breve. Lo más probable es que sea la primera semana de junio. Los estudiantes recibirán su carta universitaria, estrellas anuales y los estudiantes del último año recibirán su placa con fotografía.
Primera práctica para la temporada otoño 2024 — TBA
Tendremos una práctica después de que termine el año escolar en el salón de la banda desde las 9 a. m. hasta el mediodía. Todos los estudiantes que estén en la ciudad deben planear asistir.
Las prácticas básicas de marcha comienzan el 10 de julio
Las prácticas básicas de marcha comenzarán en el estacionamiento de Bennell cerca de las canchas de tenis de 5:30 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. Los estudiantes que estén en la ciudad deben planear asistir. ¡Los estudiantes tendrán permiso de vacaciones!
Campamento de banda — Provisional del 19 al 22 de agosto
Se llevará a cabo en la escuela secundaria del 19 al 22 de agosto. Habrá un picnic familiar la noche del 22. El campamento funciona de 7 a. m. a 4 p. m. todos los días.
