Band Notes 3–18–2024

Wow — what a weekend!

This is a BIG issue — please read to the end!

Thank You!

A massive and hugeish thank you to Mrs. Ramos and the team of band parents. I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it again, we have the best parents! From the cafeteria, to the staging areas, to the parking, to the admissions, we truly had an amazing event on Saturday.

A few shoutouts: Mr. Ramos took on everything to do with concessions leading up to Saturday and did all the shopping Friday & then handled cleaning out the dungeon and washing everything yesterday. Mr. Martinez helped out in all areas and learned how to run the show. Both Mr. & Mrs. Martino helped all day with logistics moving Guard & Percussion through to keep us on time. And of course, Dave T.!!!

And — In the event you didn't know, Arlington's bus driver left them stranded in our parking lot until after 11p. Mrs. Ramos made sure that they had snacks and water, and stayed with them until their driver returned. Those kids didn't get home until after 1 AM. It's just so heartwarming to know that our parents care so deeply about kids that it doesn't even matter what uniform they wear.

Have I mentioned that we have the best parents!

I received this email from a Shelton Parent

Hello, we attended yesterday’s MAC event (my son is a freshman drummer for Shelton High) and I just wanted to say how impressed I was with your Senior acknowledgements. We are new to this whole world of Winter Percussion, and I had NO idea there would be 15 hour days in store when my son signed up, so once it’s time for judging, I’m usually like, “okay, let’s go, wrap this up!” And yesterday was no different, so I have to admit, at first I was like, wait…EACH kid is going to talk? And there’s HOW many seniors? But as they introduced their friends and shared their stories, I was legitimately touched and inspired. It was so nice to see and hear such heartfelt testimonies, and I think it gave all the kids in the room a chance to think about their relationships as well, so thank you, or whoever had the idea, as it really was time well spent, even if it meant extending an already long day.

This is why we do what we do!

The parade on Friday was also spectacular. Our students looked and sounded amazing! And, their behavior and demeanor, while we were at Vazzy's restaurant, would make any parent proud.

Notas de banda 3–18–2024

¡Guau — qué fin de semana!

Este es un GRAN problema — ¡lea hasta el final!

¡Gracias!
Un enorme y enorme agradecimiento a la Sra. Ramos y al equipo de padres de la banda. Lo he dicho antes y probablemente lo repetiré: ¡tenemos los mejores padres! Desde la cafetería hasta las áreas de preparación, el estacionamiento y las admisiones, realmente tuvimos un evento increíble el sábado.
Algunos agradecimientos: el Sr. Ramos se encargó de todo lo relacionado con las concesiones hasta el sábado e hizo todas las compras el viernes y luego se encargó de limpiar el calabozo y lavar todo ayer. El Sr. Martínez ayudó en todas las áreas y aprendió a dirigir el espectáculo. Tanto el Sr. como la Sra. Martino ayudaron todo el día con la logística para trasladar a Guard & Percussion para mantenernos a tiempo. Y por supuesto, Dave T.!!!
Y — Por si no lo sabías, el conductor del autobús de Arlington los dejó varados en nuestro estacionamiento hasta después de las 11 p.m. La señora Ramos se aseguró de que tuvieran bocadillos y agua y se quedó con ellos hasta que regresó el conductor. Esos niños no llegaron a casa hasta después de la 1 de la madrugada. Es tan reconfortante saber que nuestros padres se preocupan tanto por los niños que ni siquiera importa qué uniforme usen.

Recibí este correo electrónico de un padre de Shelton
Hola, asistimos al evento MAC de ayer (mi hijo es baterista de primer año en Shelton High) y solo quería decir lo impresionado que estoy con sus agradecimientos de último año. Somos nuevos en todo este mundo de Winter Percussion, y NO tenía idea de que habría jornadas de 15 horas en la tienda cuando mi hijo se inscribió, así que una vez que llega el momento de juzgar, normalmente digo: “Está bien, vamos a terminar”. ¡Esto arriba!” Y ayer no fue diferente, así que debo admitir que al principio pensé, espera… ¿CADA niño va a hablar? ¿Y hay CUÁNTAS personas mayores? Pero cuando me presentaron a sus amigos y compartieron sus historias, me sentí legítimamente conmovido e inspirado. Fue muy agradable ver y escuchar testimonios tan sinceros, y creo que les dio a todos los niños en la sala la oportunidad de pensar también en sus relaciones, así que gracias, o a quien tuvo la idea, ya que realmente fue un tiempo bien empleado. , incluso si eso significaba extender un día ya largo.

¡Es por esto que hacemos lo que hacemos!

Desfile de San Pats
El desfile del viernes también fue espectacular. ¡Nuestros estudiantes se veían y sonaban increíbles! Y su comportamiento y comportamiento, mientras estábamos en el restaurante de Vazzy, enorgullecerían a cualquier padre.
