Colorguard at Whitney — Tues/Wed/Sat
Drumline at BHS — Wednesday 5:45–9p at BHS
Drumline first contest Saturday at East Haven!
Weather for this week
As you know by now, the weather looks crazy for this week. In the event that school is cancelled, rehearsal will be cancelled.
If Drumline is cancelled Wednesday — they will move to Thursday at BHS 6p-9p.
We are also watching a possible storm for Saturday that could impact the Contest at East Haven.

Indoor Drumline Schedule 2–17–2024
East Haven HS Competition
9:00a — Report BHS
9:15a — Rehearsal in the Cafeteria
11:00a — short break (bring a snack)
11:20a — resume rehearsal
12:45p — Load Truck
1:30p — Depart for East Haven — eat lunch on the bus
2:15p — arrive, unload, warm up
4:18p — PERFORM!
(students will have an opportunity to purchase food at the East Haven Concessions)
5:15p — Awards
5:45p — Depart for BHS
6:30p — unload, dismissed.
Truck will unload into the Band Room.
Band Room will NOT be open when the bus returns at 6:30

Indoor Drumline Uniform
Here’s the uniform for the Indoor Drumline.
Students will need to have this prior to the first contest on February 17
We want to be a little “dressy” this year — since the Duke Ellington Orchestra always wore tuxedos or suits…
1 — Black Pants (no yoga pants or sweatpants)
2 — Black shoes & black socks (band shoes will work)
3 — a Fedora of your choice (some may still have these from 2 years ago) Grey or black preferred
4 — A Grey or Silver Dress shirt (Button down “Oxford” style long sleeve)
This one is “Grey Khaki”…
5 — no ties required!

Alternate Transportation
Reminder — if you are leaving a show early, or arriving with your own transportation — please use the Alternate Transportation form. The form MUST be signed by the Principal 2 days prior to the event.
This is for families that have to get to another event, not for students who feel like not riding the bus!

March 16 — Indoor Guard & Drumline Home Show
March 16th will be our Home Show for Indoor Guard & Drumline held in the BHS Gym.
This year we have currently have TWENTY Guards and ELEVEN Drumlines! This is a HUGE event and we will need “All Hands on Deck” from our amazing crew of Band Parents & Volunteers.
Reminder — ALL Parents must volunteer at this event, not just parents of those students who participate in the Indoor Season. Why, you say? Simple: All of the proceeds from the event are put towards EVERY student’s account, not just the Indoor students…
If you do not volunteer that day, then your child’s account will be charged a non-volunteer fee of $75. You may have a proxy volunteer — another family member (not the student) over the age of 18.
Also
SHS has the St Patrick’s Day Parade in NYC that day. Dr. Ryan indicated to me that the SHS students should be back in Stratford no later than 7p.
so
in order to avoid the non-volunteer charge we are kindly asking that:
- All Colorguard members/parents will be at BHS that day
- Since the Drumline performs at 9p, All Indoor Drumline members will be at the performance at BHS.
- SHS Parents who are Chaperoning the trip to NYC can please report to volunteer when they return.
- SHS Parents who are going to NYC to watch the parade are kindly asked to return and volunteer after the SHS Band performs.
- SHS Parents who are not attending the parade live in NYC are asked to kindly volunteer at BHS for earlier shifts.
We are aware that it will be a hectic day — but in order to provide this positive event for the students we honestly will need everyone to help.
Indoor Season Payments & Fundraisers
Indoor Season payments will begin February 1. There will be fundraisers along the way, however the BIG fundraiser will be the Indoor Show Ad-Book.
All students, not just Indoor Season Students, may sell ads to defray the cost of participation.
Payment Schedule:
Feb 1 — $150
Mar 1 — $150
April 1 — $150
Any student with balance prior to the Fall of 2023 will need a payment plan contract to participate.

Como ya sabéis, el tiempo parece loco para esta semana. En caso de que se cancelen las clases, se cancelará el ensayo.
Si Drumline se cancela el miércoles — se trasladarán al jueves en BHS de 6 p.m. a 9 p.m.
También estamos observando una posible tormenta para el sábado que podría afectar el Concurso en East Haven.

Queremos estar un poco “elegantes” este año — ya que la Orquesta de Duke Ellington siempre vestía esmoquin o traje…

3 — un Fedora de tu elección (algunos pueden tener todavía estos de hace 2 años) Preferiblemente gris o negro

16 de marzo — Espectáculo en casa de Indoor Guard & Drumline
El 16 de marzo será nuestro Home Show para Indoor Guard & Drumline que se llevará a cabo en el gimnasio de BHS.
¡Este año tenemos actualmente VEINTE guardias y ONCE líneas de batería! Este es un evento ENORME y necesitaremos “Todas las manos a la obra” de nuestro increíble equipo de padres y voluntarios de la banda.
Recordatorio — TODOS los padres deben ser voluntarios en este evento, no solo los padres de los estudiantes que participan en la temporada interior. ¿Por qué dices? Simple: todas las ganancias del evento se destinan a la cuenta de CADA estudiante, no solo a los estudiantes de Interior…
Si no es voluntario ese día, se le cobrará a la cuenta de su hijo una tarifa de no voluntariado de $75. Puede tener un voluntario apoderado — otro miembro de la familia (no el estudiante) mayor de 18 años.
También
SHS tiene el Desfile del Día de San Patricio en Nueva York ese día. El Dr. Ryan me indicó que los estudiantes de SHS deberían regresar a Stratford a más tardar a las 7 p.m.

Para evitar el cargo de no voluntario, le pedimos amablemente que:
Todos los miembros/padres de Colorguard estarán en BHS ese día.
Dado que Drumline se presenta a las 9 p.m., todos los miembros de Indoor Drumline estarán en la presentación en BHS.
Los padres de SHS que acompañen el viaje a Nueva York pueden presentarse como voluntarios cuando regresen.
Se solicita a los padres de SHS que vayan a Nueva York para ver el desfile que regresen y se ofrezcan como voluntarios después de la presentación de la Banda de SHS.

Somos conscientes de que será un día agitado — pero para poder brindar este evento positivo a los estudiantes, honestamente necesitaremos la ayuda de todos.
Pagos de temporada interior y recaudación de fondos
Los pagos de la temporada interior comenzarán el 1 de febrero. Habrá recaudaciones de fondos a lo largo del camino, sin embargo, la GRAN recaudación de fondos será el libro de anuncios del espectáculo interior.
Todos los estudiantes, no sólo los estudiantes de temporada interior, pueden vender anuncios para sufragar el costo de participación.
